An xps file contains information, written to the XPS format (XML Paper Specification). This specific format may contain tags, as well as the data, required for the printing of the document.
An XPS format was developed as a replacement to the Enhanced Metafile (EMF) format. The file saved in XPS format is similar by its structure to PDF file, but based on XML instead of PostScript language.
