The docxml file is a native file object for the word processor Microsoft Word. It contains data in the non-processed XML format. Nevertheless, it differs from the docx format, which stores Open XML Word documents as Zip-archives. These specific documents can be stored with the xml extension. In such a way, they take less space on the hard drive comparing to docx objects.
