The azw3 file is an electronic book in the Kindle Fire 8 format (KF8 is a format, which afterwards replaced Amazon AZW extension). This format supports new HTML5 and CSS3 capabilities and a lot of new formatting functions. The files, which are stored into this format, usually contain DRM-protection and are used for downloading new electronic books. The freeware utility from Amazon named KindleGen is used for the creation of the books in the KF8 format. These books can be encountered with the MOBI-extension.
